Artist in Watercolour and Oils
Sue Townsend is a talented and dedicated artist living in the beautiful Cotswolds. Sue's work reflects her love of the outdoors and she uses colour and light to give vitality and variety to her work. Her subject matter is varied and stems from many different sources and is often surprising. Her trips abroad, particularly to France and Venice and other parts of Europe, give her fresh inspiration everywhere she goes away. Animals and Birds together with abstract ideas are in her portfolio.
Sue runs classes locally which are well attended and are fun and encouraging.
Holidays at home and abroad are organised for people who enjoy painting somewhere different - walking and photography are also on the agenda. Holidays to enjoy and experience.

A Painting of Something Special for Someone Special
A picture of a pet, member or group of the family, retirement colleague or a special place. All ideal subjects for a portrait or painting as a birthday, wedding or anniversary or retirement present. A combination of a portrait and a house or place of interest gives a fresh look to a picture and will last a life time.
Where possible Sue likes to make a personal visit and sense the atmosphere and characteristics of the subject. However most pet commissions are done directly from the client's own favourite photographs which can be send by post or by email. Progresss images are emailed before the final picture is delivered.
Galleries There are several galleries showing work that Sue has done here and abroad and they also include the pictures of pets and people, commissions and other imaginative work. Click on one of the Gallery buttons and visit the colourful and impressionistic work.
All prices and delivery charges are shown in the SHOPPING section.
Greetings cards and Giclee prints are available of some of the pictures. Please contact for details.
What People Say
" I commissioned Sue to do a painting of our three cats and arranged for her to take the photographs of them . A beautifully painted picture, well presented, delivered in good time and very competitively priced. Altogether absolutely thrilled with the result. It is hanging in pride of place" - EG, Wilts "
I am married to a professional painter and perhaps somewhat more critical than many about the quality of paintings that we buy. I commissioned a picture in oils of a much loved dog who died several years ago and Sue painted a magnificent head portrait of her which I gave to my husband as a birthday present. He then commissioned a painting of our new dog for my birthday! I was so impressed and in spite of the fact that they are almost identical black and white spaniels, Sue managed to capture perfectly both their physical differences and characters. We also have a number of her watercolours of France which are charming and remind us of holidays in Provence. EH, Glos
